“Success in golf depends less on strength of body than upon strength of mind and character.” Arnold Palmer
Coláiste Iósaef boasts a tradition of high quality golf across all age groups in the school. The school has both a Senior team and a Junior team who compete in various competitions throughout the year. Every year our golfers set their sights firmly on two competitions - The GUI Junior and Senior Munster Matchplay Championships and the Links Cup. There is also plans underway to run a County Limerick VEC Golf competition in the Spring of 2012. The Links Cup takes place every year between Coláiste Iósaef and a number of secondary schools in Scotland. This year, the competition takes place in Scotland and will see students grace the fairways of St Andrews Old Course, Carnoustie, Scots Craig and Royal Montrose. The winner will take home the Link "Claret Jug". In 2012, the competition will take place in Ireland and will see schools from Scotland make the return trip to Ireland. This year, Coláiste Iósaef will compete against Webster's College of Kirriemuir, Belmont Academy of Ayr and Albyn Secondary School of Aberdeen. This year's senior golf team is made up of Thomas Meany (Captain), Eamon Leen, Seán O'Riordan, Shane Irwin and Conor Staunton. Watch this space for more details about the teams progress.
